Studied at the Lancastrian School in Edinburgh and at the Royal Art Societyof New South Wales under Julian Rossi AShton and A. J. Daplyn.

Exhibitied with the RAS from 1890 and elected Associate Member in 1929. Also regular exhibitor with the New South Wales Society of Artists and Committee member from 1899.

Represented in the Art Gallery of NSW, Manly Art Gallery and State Library of NSW.
