The subject of Man with Snake is Drysdale's friend, Eric Worrell, a naturalist, herpetologist and writer whose collection of snake venom was essential in the production of snake anti-venom in Australia. He was founder of the Australian Reptile Park in Gosford, NSW.
Drysdale made 6 lithographs. The first one was Kimberley Landscape 1964 and was commissioned by the Art Gallery Society of the National Gallery of Victoria. They were all published by Gallery A Print Workshop and printed by Janet Dawson
