 A. H. Fullwood was born in England and migrated to Australia in 1883. He travelled extensively throughout Australia as an artist on the Picturesque Atlas of Australasia. He shared a studio with Frank Mahony and painted with Julian Ashton. For a time he lived with Tom Roberts and Arthur Streeton at their camp at Sirius Cove and painted with them around Sydney Harbour and the Hawkesbury River. In 1899 he travelled to the USA for a year and then on to England. He served with the Royal Army Medical Corps and was appointed as an official War Artist working in France in 1918 and 1919. He returned to Australia in 1920.


Fullwood is represented in the British Musuem, various European public collections, the Australian War Memorial and all main Australian public collections
