Martin Stainforth

Martin Stainforth was an English artist who travelled to Australia in 1908 and stayed for 20 years. He is best known for his animal paintings, particularly portraits of racehorses. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and Royal Art Society of New South Wales and in 1924 was a foundation committee-member of the Australian Water-Colour Institute. Examples of his work are held by the Australian Jockey Club and the National Museum of Racing, New York .
