This view of Sydney Harbour has been made famous by Arthur Streeton; Ashton regularly visited Streeton and Tom Roberts at their artists' camp at Balmoral. Ashton painted a series of wood panels of Sydney harbour in 1898 four of which were in the Charles Lloyd Jones collection sold by Lawson's in 1981.
