After 6 years in London the the Blackmans returned to Australia  where they would spend weekends with the Moras in Aspendale "Mirka or Georges would go to Acland Street to buy charcuterie and cakes, good bread and coffee, before they all undertook the hour long drive to the beach .... These languid sojourns inspired Charles Blackman's Aspendale Papers of 1966, a suit of editioned lithographs that merged the atmospheric conditions of their holidays with a memorable discussion about Henry James' novella The Aspern Papers, a tale of mystery and intrigue that unfolds against the maritime setting of Venice. The images, with their vaporous and silhouetted figures, invoke ideas of absence and prensence and serve as a summary of a friendship renewed."  Lesley Harding & Kendrah Morgan, Mirka and Georges A Culinary Affair, The Miegunyah Press, 2018, pp173,177.
