Flats and Deckchair 2016
Acrylic on paper Again, this is an image that I worked on as early as 1972/73. I used to find these flats around the western suburbs. The structure and clean lines appealed to me at the time. Flats taking over traditional western suburbs weatherboards – especially in Footscray. The deck chair, empty, tells a story in itself – has someone gone away because they felt overlooked – who knows? Seems a constant story now, flats overlooking us all.
