The idea for this series of paintings was of course the West Gate Bridge. The areas around Spotswood, Yarraville and Seddon are full of traditional Victorian/Edwardian houses - mainly weatherboard. The table cloth came from a market stall and the intricate pattern contrasts against the structural lines of the houses and the Bridge.
