Signed and titled
William Thomas Owen was born in New Zealand in 1898. In 1906, his family moved to England. During WWI he served with the British Navy. From 1919-21 he studied at the Polytechnic Art School, later attending the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. With the onset of the depression, Owen moved to Melbourne, Australia, becoming an active member of Melbourne Camera Circle and the Melbourne Camera Club. The National Gallery of Victoria holds a large collection of his work
