THE LAST OF THE DROVE
AFTER A PAINTING BY W. FORD
CHROMO-LITHOGRAPHED
BY SANDS & McDOUGALL
FOR / THE ART UNION OF VICTORIA
SEASON 1880

Lithographed by Ludwig Lang after William Ford
Published by Sands &McDougall

Literature: "The presentation picture for the subscribers to the 1880 distribution of the Art Union of Victoria is a handsome chromolithograph, a copy of an oil painting, Tho Last of the Drove, from the brush of Mr. William Ford, St. Kilda. The artist has depicted a thoroughly Australian incident, and represents in his work a couple of stockriders mustering cattle in a yard, the remnant of the drove just being worked through the gate. The scene is a very animated one, and conveys a faithful impression of the difficulties of station life. The lithograph reproduces the picture excellently, although it is somewhat smaller, and when mounted will be a very desirable addition to any collection. The lithography was executed at the establishment of Messrs. Sands and McDougall, where copies can be seen." refer Leader, Melbourne, Sat 3 Jan 1880, Page 21, The Town

Another copy of this print is in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria and the National Gallery of Australia
