This work is probably  Near Sarzane, Italy, which was no. 26 in A Catalogue of all the finished drawings in water colours of Mr John Glover, Esq. ... which will be sold by Auction, by Mr Stanley, at his Rooms, 21, Old Bond Street, on Tuesday, the 18th of May (London: Walton & Mitchell, 1830).

Glover and Henry Allport passed through the town of Sarzana (east of Genoa) on the incoming leg of their 1818 tour of Italy (see Hansen 2003, pp. 68-70). A number of other images of the area are known: two drawings in sketchbook 43 (State Library of New South Wales, DGA 47 ff. 18v & 19r), and another little sketch of Sarzane castle and town, Italy 1831 in the V&A (1009/58 - 1897).
