Leonid Krivitski was born in the town of Kirowograd (Ukraine). After graduating from the St. Petersburg Art School in 1953, he entered the Former Royal Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, where he graduated with the highest marks in 1959. In 1962 he completed his doctoral studies at the Academy of Arts


In 1970 he won the silver medal from the Academy for the Best Painting of the Year which allowed him to continue his training in Italy. Since that time Krivitski has held more than 40 exhibitions within Russia and Europe.


For 25 years he continuously taught painting at the Arts and Graphic Faculty in St. Petersburg Pedagogical University. More than 60 students painted their final Diploma works under his lead. All of them became successful artists who work in Russia and all over the world – USA, Sweden, Germany, and many other countries.


Krivitski’s paintings are hanging in numerous Russian and foreign museums and in private collections and galleries of Moscow, St. Petersburg, London, Paris, Australia, Stockholm, Tel-Aviv etc.


He is known for always perfecting his mastery, working out new techniques and teaching young students. He has completed more than 50 grand-format compositions and paintings, reflecting Russian and soviet history.


Krivitski was also named Honoured Artist of Russia.
