Murray Griffin

1903 - 1992

"Murray Griffin began experimenting in colour printing in the 1920s after becoming familia with work of the Austrian printmaker Norburtine von Bresslern-Roth - which had first been exhibitied in Sydney in 1926. Using the elimination technique Griffin produced colour linocuts of birds that became poular in the 1930s. His figurative prints Rabbit trapper's daughter and Young Farmer of 1936 appear to radiate whith an inner energy and may reflect Griffin's belief in the spirutual nature of man based on the teachings of Rudolph Steiner."
