"... The interesting thing about him is that he is an individualist who owes little to any school of painting. He has taken his own line of country and what he has to say is said with distinction. His water colours painted in a low key and quiet colour, are always harmonious and there is always an aristocratic quality about them. But apart form his serious work I like to think of those witty lino-cut cards that he sends to his friends at Christmas - full of humour and critical observation..."
