ILYA Lvovich KATS 1908 - 1991
Born in Odessa (Ukraine). Studied at the Odessa Art Institute/College 1929-35. Active in Odessa 1930’s; in Moscow thereafter. Began exhibiting c. 1935. Important shows include ‘SOVIET RUSSIA’, Moscow, 1960. Specialised in seascapes and landscapes. Also a graphic artist (especially favoured monotypes) and monumentalist.
