Mary Hammond
24 May - 15 June 2007 - For almost five decades Mary Hammond has observed and painted the lives of ordinary Australians. Her art is an easy mix of the personal and the political. The scenes and the characters are familiar and often make us more aware of the loneliness and sadness in many lives. Favourite themes include shoppers, migrant women at the markets, Anzac Day veterans, Workers and the elderly.
Also included in this exhibition are watercolour landscapes painted during the 500 Fridays when Mary painted around Port Phillip Bay with a small group of painters .
