Aboriginal Artists from the Kimberley
Posted: 2 Aug 2010
With less than one week to go there are a number of works by Andrea Pindan and Greg Peterson still available. These paintings focus on the land of the artists' ancestors.
Illustrated: Greg Peterson's Warla, 90 x 90 cm
This is the area my grandfather and grandmother came from. They walk from waterhole to waterhole. They gather food and visit relatives as they move about. This is the Canning Stock Route area. My Grandfather’s country is Kokapanu and my Grandmother’s country is Choolgou. The central white area depicts white soil claypan which may be crossed at night because of the lack of shade during the day.

Rare Hugh Ramsay for sale
Posted: 10 Jun 2010
Included in my new exhibition is a terrific museum quality painting by Hugh Ramsay.
Self Portrait, Paris 1901 was included in Ramsay's Retrospective exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria in 1943. During the last 109 years since it was painted, it has been in the possession of two members of the Ramsay family and Daryl Lindsay, Director of the National Gallery of Victoria. It was probably also included in the 1902 exhibition that Nellie Melba helped to organize for the artist.
It is an important painting and is priced at $35,000.
The second work by Hugh Ramsay in our exhibition has been snapped up by a discerning scholar.

New Works by Barry Dickins
Posted: 6 May 2010
As a result of the continuing interest in Barry Dickin's extraordinary paintings and drawings, the artist has brought in a number of new pieces that are now available for viewing, such as Contemplative Mermaids illustrated (detail). Like the man himself these works are full of colour and complexity and the more one looks at them, the more there is to see.

Kimberley Visit
Posted: 20 Oct 2009
Caroline and I camped beside this idyllic, remote, waterhole for a couple of nights rest after visiting Fitzroy Crossing and Yiyili to select works for our next Aboriginal paintings exhibition. It was my first trip to the Kimberley and I can't wait to get back. I will even swim in the waterholes again even though Caroline was bitten by a crocodile ! For more information and photos ask Caroline next time you are in our Hampton gallery.

The Hampton gallery is now 1 year old. Thanks to the efforts of Caroline it has gone from strength to strength. The highlight event of the year was the rock concert put on by Fitzroy Express in April to coincide with the opening of an exhibition of paintings from Fitzroy Crossing and the nearby community of Yiyili.
